I have an appointment at a local clinic or hospital, what do I need to do?

You will need to take with you a consent form for the release of medical information to a 3rd party (the SSAFA GSTT Care LLP Medical Team). Download the consent form (doc, 64KB). You should also provide your service number and/or show your ID card.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes early to complete the booking-in process. After your appointment, please make another appointment to see your GP.

If you are provided with any documentation from the hospital or clinic please take a copy and send it to us at the Ramstein medical administration office so that we can keep your medical record up to date and complete.

Hospitals

If you are admitted to any hospital, please let us know by calling the Hospital Hotline on 0800 5 88 99 36 as soon as possible. We can provide you with patient support and ensure that medical treatment costs will be paid for (for entitled patients).

Please do not sign anything in a hospital or clinic unless you know what you are signing for. In Germany, be especially wary of any form that contains the word 'Wahlleistung', which means private room / treatment options or the words Chefarzt Behandlung/Chief Consultant. This would incur a cost that is not covered by the LLP or the BFG health service. If you are in any doubt at all, call the hospital hotline on 0800 5 88 99 36.
