A letter to our patients

A Letter to our Patients

Dear patients,

You should now be aware that the contract between SSAFA GSTT Care LLP and the MOD will come to a planned end on 30th September 2020.  From 1st October onwards, all aspects of healthcare will be managed and delivered by Defence Primary Healthcare and their partner organisations.

Many of the staff you have come to know in Sennelager and Bielefeld will be heading off on new adventures at the end of September, but one or two familiar faces will be joining the new team in Sennelager.

Both SSAFA and GSTT have been present and providing care in Germany for many years prior to the start of the current healthcare contract in 2013, and it has been a pleasure and a privilege to deliver healthcare to the population in British Forces Germany and EJSU as a partnership over the last 8 years, and as individual organisations prior to that.  The world we are living and working in now is unrecognisable, not just to when we began our work here in Germany, but also to the world we were in just a few short months ago.  The events that have shaped 2020 so far are unprecedented within our lifetimes, and it has given us a great deal of pride to see the response of our staff and patients to the pandemic. The sense of community spirit, kindness and camaraderie within our communities gives us all hope for the future as we adjust to new ways of living and working.

Throughout the last few months, the topic of health and healthcare has never been out of the news and never been far from most people's minds.  We want to reassure you that for the limited time we have left here in Germany, your healthcare will continue to be at the forefront of our minds and our top priority.

There are just two things left to say - firstly to welcome the new healthcare team, led by Colonel Bruce Baker and Captain Neil Gilbert, with whom we are working closely to handover services and to ensure a seamless transition for you and your family.  We wish the new team every success in the future and we're confident that we are leaving the population in very safe hands.  This health pack contains information on the new service for your information and action.

Finally, thank you to you, our patients. Your support, feedback and engagement over the last 8 years have helped us to build and maintain a health service of which we are truly proud.  Stay safe, and we wish you all the very best for the future,
