Data Protection and Confidentiality

All staff have a duty to record and share your personal information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Common Law Duty of Confidentiality.  Further information about how SSAFA and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust look after your personal information is available in our Privacy Statements on our publications page.

Proof of entitlement

Service personnel, entitled civilians and their dependents are entitled to healthcare services in BA(G). Additional information about entitlement is available on our entitlement page.

Close relatives of serving personnel, their dependents and entitled civilians must be sponsored by your Unit.  Please inform your Families Office prior to visitors arriving.  This entitles them to emergency GP care only at the medical centre. Medication for existing conditions must be obtained in the UK before coming to Germany.  Visiting civilian friends are not entitled to any healthcare from the British Army (Germany) health service.  They should carry an EHIC and take out travel insurance.

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

All service personnel and their dependents are strongly advised to carry their EHIC at all times and especially if crossing any international borders.  Though the EHIC will provide emergency healthcare whilst travelling within other EU member countries, it does not include the country of residence.  The EHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance. Visit www.ehic.org.uk for further information.

In a medical emergency, call 112 and then the hospital hotline number 0800 5889936 or 0049 521 305 3960 (from UK mobile or outside Germany). so that we can provide any support you may need.
