Referral From GP for Elective (non-emergency) Hospital Care
You may be referred to the local contracted Designated German Provider (DGP):
Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel (EvKB/Gilead)
Referral Process via the Optimal Care Meeting (OCM)
All referrals require approval via the Optimal Care Meeting at Sennelager Medical Centre prior to an appointment being arranged at the hospital. At the OCM, your case is anonymously discussed and the referral is either approved, or an alternative referral or advice is given. The reason for this is to ensure you are being sent to the right speciality, that your care pathway is in line with UK standards, and that another GP does not already have the required skills to manage your condition.
When your GP makes a referral, they will advise you when you can expect to hear the outcome of the OCM, and will also let you know whether you will be contacted, or whether you should contact us.
